MY APPROACH

Every student is unique and my experience in education has shown me that a "one size fits all" model is not effective. I recognize the benefit of a personalized academic support program and approach each student and each Academic Coaching session with a customized plan that best meets their specific learning needs and supports their academic goals.

My academic coaching service consists of two equally important components:

WEEKLY SESSIONS

During this session, students and I will access their online portal(s) and discuss each class in detail, including grades, upcoming assignments, and missing work. We will also introduce and implement executive function strategies including:

  • Time Management

  • Organization

  • Note-taking

  • Test Preparation

  • And more…

We will then devote time to working on course-specific items that we determine to be most beneficial, such as outlining an essay or preparing for an exam. At the end of the session, students will have clear, tangible goals for the rest of the week and a concrete plan to ensure assignment completion and accountability.

FOLLOW-UP & COMMUNICATION

The second component of academic coaching is the communication and follow-up between sessions.

First, I will send a report to the parent(s) after each session outlining what we covered, upcoming items for the week, and any concerns I may have. These reports are fully customizable based on parent preference and need.

Next, I will communicate with students and parents throughout the week. I check in with students regularly—typically via text—to follow up on assignments, grades, and other academic responsibilities to help them stay on track. I also keep parents informed of any concerns or updates regarding their child’s progress. The goal is to support students in managing their workload effectively and to ensure they stay engaged and organized. Once again, this component is fully customizable based on the needs and preferences of each student and parent(s).

This approach sets students up for success and gives them the confidence to excel in their courses with a strong support system in place. The goal is for students to discover effective strategies and develop the ability to implement them independently, which will help them become strong, self-sufficient students throughout their educational journeys.
